These days, tall grass covers the hillside where fans once spread blankets under the stars. But there hasn't been a show there in seven years. Billy Ray Cyrus performed the first concert at the venue-first called Polaris, then Germain Amphitheater-and over the years, artists like Janet Jackson, Jimmy Buffett and Rush followed. Twenty years ago, a big outdoor concert venue came to Columbus, opening the door for arena-level concerts to sweep Ohioans off their feet. In addition to using an actual drive as the destination, each app can copy the source volume to a disk image (which won’t itself be bootable, but which can be restored to a drive that will then become bootable) you can choose from among several disk-image formats, with or without compression. (The free trial version of SuperDuper disables the incremental update feature, which Shirt Pocket calls Smart Update.) Both also let you deselect specific files, folders, or filename patterns to omit them from your backup, although they have very different interfaces for doing so-I find this task much easier to accomplish in Carbon Copy Cloner than in SuperDuper. Each utility provides a plain-English summary of what’s about to happen you then click a button to begin the copying operation.īoth apps give you the option to erase the destination before copying files from the source or to update your clone incrementally to reflect only those files that are new, changed, or deleted since the previous cloning run. In both apps, you choose a source drive (say, your startup volume) from a pop-up menu on the left, a destination drive (your clone-backup volume) from a pop-up menu on the right, and any desired options using additional pop-up menus or buttons. SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Clonerįor everyday cloning tasks, SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner are equally good in almost every respect, and they have a core set of features in common. Each has a long history, focuses on cloning, presents a simple and clear user interface, and includes unusual features that make it an especially good choice for creating and maintaining bootable duplicates. Most of these apps and processes do an entirely respectable job, but two cloning utilities-Shirt Pocket’s $28 SuperDuper and Bombich Software’s $40 Carbon Copy Cloner-stand above the rest. Online appendix to my book Take Control of Backing Up Your Mac.) It’s also possible (if not especially convenient) to clone a drive using Disk Utility or by using the diskutil command in Terminal. More than two dozen third-party backup apps can make bootable duplicates. What makes a volume bootable?) All this is best done with a utility designed expressly for cloning. (For more details, read Mike Bombich’s article And, crucially, the System folder (/System) on the backup drive must be “blessed,” which entails recording its physical location on the drive in a special portion of the drive’s hidden HFS Volume Header. Symbolic links (Unix-based file references that function like Mac aliases) must be recreated correctly. Every file on your drive-including thousands of hidden files-must be copied just so, with permissions and other metadata intact. Unfortunately, you can’t make a clone merely by copying files from your startup volume to an external drive in the Finder. OS X Recovery features include Disk Utility, but sometimes you need a drive-repair app with more oomph.) Finally, having a clone is essential when upgrading to a new version of OS X, because it gives you the option to easily revert to your previous system (by erasing your upgraded-OS drive and then restoring from the clone) if compatibility problems arise. By contrast, even though Time Machine also backs up every file on your drive, restoring all those files to a new drive takes hours (or possibly days) restoring an entire drive from an online backup service takes even longer.Ī clone also comes in handy for troubleshooting, because you can use it to run third-party utilities on your ailing drive. A few moments later, you’re back up and running-and you can then repair (or replace) your main startup drive more or less at your leisure. You simply attach your clone drive, restart while holding down the Option key, select the clone drive in OS X’s Startup Manager, and press Return. What a clone offers that the likes of Time Machine and CrashPlan do not is immediate recovery: You can get back to work almost instantly after a drive crash or other severe problem with your startup volume. In the previous article about Electro, I have already speculated that Molina’s Doc Ock may return in a future Spider-Man film to set up the Sinister Six, and that speculation is now confirmed. In that movie, Doc Ock met his demise after helping Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man to disarm the fusion reactor. Molina portrayed a sympathetic version of Spider-Man’s nemesis in Spider-Man 2, considered by many to be one of the greatest comic book films ever made. Now, these hopes found further justification with the announcement from The Hollywood Reporter that Alfred Molina, who portrayed Doctor Octopus (Doc Ock) in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 (2004), will once again bring the iconic supervillain to life in the next Spidey adventure. The company is simply selling new shares into the open market. We are not talking about a "public offering". Given elevated risks of weaker-than-expected growth and additional shareholder dilution, I believe investors should avoid Flux Power stock for the time yanling Particularly the company's ongoing open market sales are likely to put further pressure on the share price as trading volume remains insufficient to absorb meaningful numbers of newly issued shares. In addition, liquidity is likely to remain tight thus increasing the risk for additional shareholder dilution going forward. While Flux Power's gross margin and Adjusted EBITDA trajectory remains encouraging, lower-than-expected revenue and weak order intake raises questions about the company's ability to live up to expectations for 35% top-line growth in fiscal 2024. Moreover, the company will have to renew or refinance its $14 million credit facility with Silicon Valley Bank ("SVB"), now a division of First Citizens Bank ( FCNCA, OTCPK:FCNCB), by the end of the year. While likely sufficient for the next couple of quarters, I believe Flux Power will have to raise additional capital at some point going forward to accommodate anticipated growth. In addition, the company's at-the-market ("ATM") offering program had a remaining capacity of $4.6 million. In aggregate, the company has issued approximately 0.2 million new shares for a little over $1 million in net proceeds so far in 2023.Īs of May 10, Flux Power had a cash balance of $1.4 million with an aggregate $7.8 million available under its credit facilities. In recent quarters, management has done a good job increasing the company's credit facilities when needed thus avoiding additional shareholder dilution.ĭisappointingly, Flux Power has returned to selling new common shares into the open market during the March quarter and continued sales in recent weeks. While cash usage has declined materially from elevated levels experienced in fiscal 2022, it is difficult to envision a path to sustainable free cash flow for the company, particularly when considering consensus expectations for more than 35% revenue growth in fiscal 2024. We anticipate these extended lead times continuing, although diminishing in the coming months as supply factors normalize. New orders were down for the quarter due to supply chain issues, increasing lead times on some new forklifts and ground support equipment product lines, which all caused delays in anticipated orders and existing orders to be pushed out. In the third quarter fiscal ‘23, we received $9.8 million in customer purchase orders from existing and new Fortune 500 customers. On the conference call, management blamed supply chain issues which are expected to persist in the short term: On the flip side, revenue came in slightly below consensus estimates and new order intake was weak.
